Kidney stones and osteoporosis - from too much raw spinach?
Q) My husband passed kidney stones and then had a terrible kidney infection which led to taking antibiotics. My question to you is that I juice every morning and juice spinach as well as other veggies and some fruit. Could the spinach have caused the kidney stones? What actually causes kidney stones?
What suggestions do you have to avoid them in the future? I have your book and follow the O Secretor blood group eating plan. It works for me, but my husband doesn’t follow blood group eating at all. At the moment I have put him on a parasite cleanse. Hoping you could shed some light on this for me. Thanking you for a wonderful site of very interesting info.
A) Kidney stones are very painful and there are a number of causes. Some kidney stones and gallstones even contain parasites. Oxalic acid occurs naturally in foods like spinach, rhubarb and sorrel. Providing your intake of calcium and magnesium is adequate or preferably abundant, they should not cause calcium oxalate stones. But huge daily dark green spinach smoothies can cause osteoporosis. They may be rich in magnesium, but there is insufficient calcium and thus it is leached from the bones where emergency supplies are present to keep the blood alkaline. Foods rich in phosphorus are more of a problem: a hamburger and a Coke and most junk foods rich in sugar, white flour and fried in oil will release loads of phosphoric acid into the system. It is filtered out into the blood, where it reaches the kidneys. Calcium attaches to the acid and forms the stones.
Remember that magnesium and vitamin B6 prevent kidney stones. Renotone from Tibb medicines is also helpful, people tell me. I also love my juicing – all the scraps and I include fresh dandelion leaves, olive leaves, ivy, parsley and ginger. How raw eating can kill you quicker than junk food.
Quick response: Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I will cut back on the spinach in my juicing and include more parsley and celery and dandelion in juicing and make sure my husband takes Nature Fresh calcium complex at night. The Renotone tablets from Tibb also sound a good option as well as vitamin B6. We are both taking cranberry tablets to prevent infections. Thank you once again for all your helpful info and website.
Product suggestion and appreciation from a happy customer
I have contacted you in the past to thank you for an excellent product (Intimate Wash). My collection of products has grown in the meantime to the personal lubricant, toothpaste and mouthwash. Thank you for providing South Africans with excellent quality products...with a clean, green conscience and a reasonable price! I recently gave birth naturally to a beautiful, healthy little girl. After the birth, the only product that I dared to be close to my bath was the intimate wash. I bath my little girl only with water, but when we bath together I feel safe to wash with the intimate wash as I trust the product 100%. I recommend the intimate wash to all my friends and when I have to put together a gift for a stork tea or a pamper party, the intimate wash is first to go in the gift bag! I look forward to getting to know the rest of your products!
PS - just a suggestion...I took out the squirty plastic insert from the mouthwash bottle as I find it easier to pour mouthwash into my mouth than to squirt it. Perhaps it is a good idea to remove it?
Reply: Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter! Always make sure she only washes with the intimate cleanser. As you know, it makes a lovely bubble bath. I remember how badly normal soap used to burn my “privates” when I was a little girl. Doctors tell us to not use any soap for this reason as it is too alkaline. It was at the request of a gynaecologist that I formulated it - the first acidic pH friendly solution.
Thanks for such a kind letter! It means a lot to our team to receive such detailed comments and especially the appreciation. It is good to know that customers like you are satisfied. Thank you for the suggestion of leaving out the insert in the mouthwash bottle. The more we can save the better! We are planning to donate a lot of money to Operation Smile, so saving money is a win-win situation. I will discuss this with the production manager.
I get a burning vagina during and after sex. No doctor can help me.
Q) It's about two years I have been to different doctors, my vagina burns during and after sex. I am married with two kids. No doctor is able to help me. The last doctor gave me Vagifem tablets which I am afraid to use. I am 28 years of age, please help me.
A) From my experience with working on this problem for a gynaecologist, the best treatments are:
- Take vitamin B complex tablets. It is often a deficiency of these vitamins that causes vaginal burning.
- Avoid all wheat – especially all the bread and pasta. It often is the cause of the burning – a wheat or gluten intolerance promotes inflammation.
- Use Nature Fresh fragrance-free personal lubricant before you have sex. It is water-based and non-irritating.
- Only bath, wash or shower with Nature Fresh Rooibos vaginal cleanser. It can be used instead of normal soap and shampoo and keeps the area acidic - to stop infection, burning and irritation. It also contains probiotics to control yeast infections.
Q) Fever blisters - tried everything but only HERPEASE works.
I would just like to say that I have tried many creams, gels and tablets to get rid of cold sores. The lysine tablet seems to work but only over a period of 3-4 days, but the Herpease product soothes and helps with anything from a blister to a pimple. Thank you for this amazing product.
Dry scalp (seborrheic eczema) cured by BEE BALM. (I've spent over R3000 trying other things)
Q first case) I was diagnosed by a dermatologist as suffering from seborrheic eczema. According to him, this is a lifelong condition that I can merely manage, but not cure. He prescribed Sylanar and Advantan.
A) Flakes can be due to product residues on the scalp especially from conditioners and gels that add so-called body. Some people use our Rooibos intimate cleanser as a shampoo as well. Rinse well and then add 5ml Nature Fresh Probiotic-15 liquid to 1 cup of water and work it into the hair and scalp and leave to dry. (Ladies use this as a mixture to splash around the vagina.) It fights yeast and fungus associated with candidiasis and dandruff and seems to scare away the rest. Don’t wash your hair every day. Give it a spritz of the mixture if you still notice any flakes. We have it in a spray form as well. Take cod liver oil or omega 3 supplements.
Comment: Hi Sue, I trust you are well. I just wanted to give you feedback. I followed your advice and although my scalp felt better, I wasn't sure. Yesterday at the barbershop my barber mentioned that my scalp wasn't dry and flaky. I cut my hair at the same barber to avoid the awkward explanation of my condition. His comment felt good. I've spent over R3000 on consultations and prescription drugs, with no result. You gave me free and safe advice that has changed my life. I used to avoid places with fluorescent lights because my dandruff would light up like a Christmas tree. Thanks again for your advice.
Q) Second case: I would like to know if you could please assist me with a scalp problem I’ve had for the past two years. I have never had dandruff or scalp problems in the past and I have spent thousands of rands on dermatologists who prescribe expensive medicated shampoos and ointments that never work. Changing my diet to vegetarian, juicing and even quitting smoking hasn’t helped.
The scaling or thick crust on my scalp bleeds if I pick at it. I can wash my hair, do a treatment and grease my scalp and in 1 day it seems to start all over again. Sometimes I scratch quite hard and I discover the entire table is filled with dandruff. It can be very irritating and embarrassing and I need someone to prescribe something that works. I like your products and used your BEE BALM for a skin condition I had. Please help…
A) The first case will help solve half your problem as the “dandruff” issues need similar treatment. The scabs and bleeding are quite common. Some people say it is linked to psoriasis of the scalp. Take the omega 3 supplements. Our BEE BALM is No. 1 for this type of lesion. If the areas are not too vast, then cover them with BEE BALM after using the PROBIOTIC-15 spray or liquid. Maybe take it as a supplement as well. Also think about doing a parasite cleanse with the Parasite Remedy. The liquid can also be dabbed onto the sores. The skin expresses internal problems and pushes them to the surface. Let me know how this works.
Should I take Megamax if I suffer from hair loss?
Q) I have frontal fibrosis alopecia where my hair is falling out and will not grow again so I am concerned if I should take Megamax, would it aggravate the hair loss?
A) If your problem is due to a testosterone imbalance rather use our chasteberry tincture and follow the PCOS protocol. You need to understand the 2 types of testosterone and how they are metabolised. (Males and females) One makes hair fall out and the other makes it grow where it shouldn’t!
Here is some internet info:
Postmenopausal frontal fibrosing alopecia
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8002649
A link to my PCOS protocol – if you have any symptoms of testosterone (DHT) imbalances. (Male or female) Have a look on the internet at new products that use caffeine topically. (A coffee hair rinse?) They claim to help restore the hair follicle. But if there is an underlying cause, it is better to address it as well.
Tribulus Terrestris for tinnitus, erectile problems and low testosterone?
A HAPPY CUSTOMER: Dear Nature Fresh, I have had horrible tinnitus and vertigo for 5 years, and this seems to most definitely alleviate this condition. It also does what you advertise on your site. Please pass this valuable information on, as tinnitus is not an easy condition to live with.
Q) Can one use this product on a long-term basis? Also, do you have it in tablet form? Is there something stronger than your drops?
A) Thanks for sharing this wonderful news about Tribulus! I will definitely spread the word. It is wonderful how Nature provides such a superb medicine chest and yet many people are sceptical and call it all pseudo-science.
The tincture is best to use because it goes directly to the bloodstream and that is why it is so effective. My husband takes it before gym training, like bodybuilders do. There is no harm in using the tincture form on a regular basis – anything to keep away the ringing in the ears. This variety, the one they call Gokshura does not have adverse effects as far as I know. This is not the case with other varieties such as the tribulus with the broad leaf. I am not sure what species they use in other products and bodybuilding supplements. (Eating too much of the wrong species can cause swelling and tenderness of the - you know what!)
We include tribulus in our MEGAMAX product and that also makes people feel empowered both mentally and emotionally (and physically). Our Prostate Remedy tincture also includes tribulus terrestris because it is fantastic for the male urinary system.
You will enjoy reading my article and can even make your own tribulus remedies using the tincture recipe.
Calcium and magnesium for pregnancy – yes!
Q) I am pregnant and going on 29 weeks. My doctor advised that I take a calcium & magnesium supplement as I am having cramps. Are your Nature Fresh Calcium and Magnesium Complex tablets safe to take during pregnancy and how many would you recommend I take daily?
A) Our Calcium & magnesium supplement is often recommended by doctors for pregnancy – and especially for breastfeeding. Take as directed on the container. You can also enjoy it as a hot drink with xylitol. They say great things about mothers to be taking xylitol for excellent children’s teeth!
Comment: Hi, I must be the biggest fan of your Calcium product! I tell people everywhere I go that all other calcium is no good. I know it's the truth because I have probably tried everything on the market before.
Motor tics helped by Nature Fresh Calcium Complex
Q) I was hoping you could assist me, I am currently using your product: Calcium and magnesium complex for my son, he is 4 years and 9 months old. I started using it together with other vitamins and minerals as he had started having motor tics, since using it, his tics have subsided and there is a good improvement which we all can notice. This is the vitamins and minerals he takes every day: - 2 gummy vites vitamins, 1 Nature Fresh Calmag tablet and 5ml omega 3 and half capsule of B6 in his milk and 1 B-complex in milk. At night I give him 5ml Magnaplex syrup (magnesium) and 1 tab Nature Fresh Calcium Complex.
It now seems as if we are giving him loads of medication, but these are all vitamins and minerals and I have chatted to the pharmacy, they have agreed this is the correct approach instead of starting him on heavy medication for motor tics. I have seen a HUGE improvement in him. I am also just wondering if you guys also have magnesium on its own in tablet form, or what you could suggest.
A) I am really impressed! It seems that I should be consulting YOU for advice. Keep doing what you are doing because it is working. You can’t really overdose with calcium or magnesium. Our powder is a lot cheaper – 1 teaspoon = 5 tablets. Kids like it in yoghurt as it becomes fizzy.
I can also suggest more magnesium in a very pleasant form – a hot bath with Epsom salts.
I think VITAFORCE still sell B6 + magnesium pills, but I am not sure. You can also use Tissue Salts to control a muscle twitch: MAG PHOS.
A delicious beverage: Cocoa, xylitol and calmag for more effective mineral uptake.
You can have this as a pick-me-up between meals:
- 1 teaspoon Nature Fresh calcium complex powder
- 1 teaspoon xylitol a sugar-free sweetener that boosts calcium uptake
- 1 teaspoon good quality cocoa powder (also boosts minerals)
- 1 teaspoon milk substitute or a little milk or cream
Add all to a mug of boiling water.
Enjoy for a chocolate “fix” and watch your teeth, bones and fingernails get hard and strong!
Comment: Hi, we have been using Nature Fresh Calcium for a few years now, with awesome results! (We own a first edition of your book and DVD) Sue’s in-depth research continues to inspire and inform us. We would like to thank you Sue and Jim on behalf of the whole family. Keep up all the good work! My mom is your biggest fan, us too.
A) You are never too old or too young to start taking calcium. All you need is a couple of teaspoons of CALCIUM COMPLEX POWDER daily. It only costs a few cents a day to lay a good strong foundation for other vitamins and food supplements. (We make pills from the same formulation but they cost more and you need to swallow 5 tablets to equal 1 teaspoon of powder in a shot of water.)
TEN THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CALCIUM
The link between over 150 common ailments like: cramps, headaches, fatigue, hyperactivity, low blood sugar, depression, poor circulation, osteoporosis, constipation, gum disease, etc. involves correct mineral and trace element metabolism. If the body functions at optimal pH levels it is easier to cope with diseased conditions and maintain good health. Calcium supplementation is important at any age!
- CALCIUM IS REQUIRED EVERY DAY: The most abundant mineral in our body is calcium. Our bones weigh about 2 kg and 99% of the calcium is deposited in them. As little as 200mg of our calcium is circulated in the bloodstream at any given time. Without this critical amount serious problems can occur. This is why the bones act as a backup system to keep our vital organs functioning. Bone density has to be sacrificed whenever the blood becomes acidic (below a pH of 7.4 if calcium and other alkalising minerals are not being supplied at a sufficient level.) Minerals that circulate around the heart have a critical ratio of calcium to magnesium to potassium for regulating the heartbeat. Calcium and magnesium are vital to the metabolism of every living cell. Vitamin & mineral deficiencies are an underlying cause of many diseases.
- DO WE ONLY NEED CALCIUM? The major cause of osteoporosis in South Africa is due to deficiencies of magnesium, copper and boron and not calcium. As calcium carbonate is cheap and abundant it is a popular antacid or calcium supplement. Unfortunately, it disturbs the homeostasis of your stomach acid. Other adverse side effects of taking calcium on its own are: constipation, kidney stones, the calcification of soft tissue (especially around injuries and joints) and the danger of hypercalcaemia. These conditions are prevented by including magnesium.
- BEWARE OF CALCIUM ANTAGONISTS: Ideally we should absorb and assimilate all the calcium we need from a good diet and dairy products. Although the calcium in most foods adds up to an impressive total, the paradox is that some foods rob us of even more calcium just to be digested. Substances like phosphates, phytates, fibre, bran, fat and sugar bond readily to calcium and render it unavailable to the body. Many populations with very high rates of osteoporosis consume large quantities of dairy products. Milk, protein, processed foods rich in phosphates, and medications like cortisone produce acidic residues and need calcium to balance the blood pH.
- HORMONE SUPPLEMENTS WORK BETTER WITH MINERALS: Oestrogens can prevent loss of calcium from bones but there are many risks attached. Blood pH cannot be maintained if the bones stop supplying calcium. Cancer develops in tissues that become acidic. Breast and uterine cancer are common side effects of oestrogen interference. If sufficient calcium is not freely available to maintain the heartbeat, heart attacks may occur. Progesterone promotes the replacement of bone tissue. Calcitonin from the parathyroid glands controls the rate of bone metabolism. Statistics from research published in the British Medical Journal (1993) show up to 11% increases of bone density in women on HRT who also took regular calcium and magnesium supplements. Taking cortisone increases the risk of osteoporosis.
- CANCER: ACID VERSUS ALKALINE: Cancer cells only thrive and multiply in acidic conditions where there is a lack of oxygen. At a pH of 7.4 the blood brings more oxygen to cells. The bones keep a supply of calcium available for this but if it is not replaced, the bones begin to thin and become brittle. Calcium reserves should be developed before the age of 30.
- BONES ARE ALIVE! Every day they are inspected by a monitoring process that breaks down weak areas. This reject tissue is released into the bloodstream and the minerals are used by the body. The calcium neutralises acidity or bonds to toxic molecules, rendering them inactive and ready for excretion. The new intake of correctly prepared magnesium, calcium and other minerals is then sent to the bone to rebuild broken down areas. It’s a continuous and natural process for all growing children, teenagers and men as well as women regardless of age. Most of the bone repair, growth and maintenance work is done when we sleep. This explains why more calcium is excreted at night. The evening meal should provide calcium but we do not always eat according to the perfect formula. Thus, it makes sense to take a dose of calcium and magnesium regularly at bedtime. This also helps one to relax, sleep well and prevents cramps as a bonus!
- CALCIUM NEEDS ABSORPTION AIDS: Vitamins play a major role in bone formation: Vitamin C, D and B6 are vital to the process and need adequate zinc to be activated. The right amount of copper is required to balance the zinc. Boron is important for preventing calcium loss in urine and enhances bone development as well as hormonal secretions. It is also beneficial for sore joints. Potassium is required to prevent mineral loss.
- WHEN DO WE NEED A CALCIUM SUPPLEMENT? Can we obtain all the nutrients we need from a normal diet? Our soil is deficient and so is the food grown in it. With so much super refined acid forming junk food on the market, the need for adequate mineral supplementation has never been greater. The symptoms of mineral deficiencies are so vast and varied we need to begin to take note of what our bones are telling us before they begin to crumble: hyperactivity, asthma, nervous disorders, cramps, aches and pains, indigestion, cancer, heart disease, fingernails that break and split, loose teeth, gum disease, fatigue and lowered resistance to infections tell us enough. It is reassuring to note that adequate mineral supplementation with a good balance of vitamins and micronutrients and a few dietary changes can help to cure and prevent most of these conditions. It’s never too late or too early to take calcium supplements.
- WHAT HAS CALCIUM GOT TO DO WITH LONGEVITY? At the age of 120 a Japanese man claimed he owed his flawless condition to drinking lots and lots of water. A closer analysis of his water supply showed that the coral sand that had dissolved in it had a rich yield of highly potentised alkaline minerals. But in addition to this, the old man took at least one gram of calcium every day with adequate magnesium. Proof enough that the way to be healthy and prevent degenerative diseases depends on providing a good balance of alkaline minerals along with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
- HOW DO I KNOW THAT CALCIUM IS NOT JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY? If you have tried taking calcium before and haven’t noticed any improvements, then you may not have been doing it properly. How soon can we expect to feel the effects of taking a good calcium supplement? Ideally you should notice an immediate improvement in sleeping habits and bowel function. Your nerves will be steadier. Menstrual cramps ease off and premenstrual tension symptoms improve as the calcium level of the blood is usually very low at these times. After a while the skin improves, joint aches and pains begin to diminish and your fingernails get a lot harder and stronger.
Loose teeth and bleeding gums firm up and become healthy again. The bones are silent and you can’t feel if the density has increased. If all the other symptoms are clearing up you will be well on your way to showing better results when you have a bone scan. Osteoporosis can be prevented. The ideal time to build up bone density is in your teens but it’s never too late to prevent further bone loss. If you still suffer from cramps, aches and pains, frequent colds, insomnia, irritability, loose teeth, constipation or stiff joints after taking calcium supplements for over a month you may need a more comprehensive form of supplement. You may be taking your supplement incorrectly or getting too little calcium.
We usually neglect calcium supplementation for the following reasons:
- We are never told to look after our bones at an early age, especially as teenagers.
- We think calcium supplements are too expensive for the whole family to take.
- Not everybody likes taking pills every day and calcium pills are big and chalky.
- We don’t feel them doing us any good.
- We often forget and it’s too much hassle.
- Osteoporosis is what old ladies get and it won’t happen to us.
- Adverse side effects like heartburn, kidney stones or constipation make us stop.
- We are unaware of the immediate and daily benefits of an effective calcium supplement.
- We think we get plenty of calcium from the food we eat.
- We have too many other pills and medications to take. Do we really need calcium?
NATURE FRESH CALCIUM COMPLEX MAKES LIFE EASIER:
As the body can only absorb 20% of the calcium you take it is better to have it in small quantities throughout the day. The easiest way to do this is by drinking it in your daily water, fruit juices or sports drinks. We also need calcium before bedtime as most of the “reject” calcium is excreted at night. A teaspoon of NATURE FRESH CALCIUM COMPLEX once or twice a day is what the average person needs to replace mineral loss and build up bone tissue as well as supply calcium and magnesium and trace elements for over 300 metabolic processes that take place on a continuous basis.
The finely powdered formulation includes the following vitamins and minerals:
- calcium
- magnesium
- zinc
- sodium
- potassium
- COPPER
- BORON
- vitamin C
- vitamin D
- vitamin B6
with enough fruit acids to balance the pH to 7 (neutral). This enables the calcium to be ionised by stomach acid without disturbing its rate of flow for normal digestion. Homeopathic tissue salts that play key roles in the distribution of minerals in the body have also been included at potencies of D3, D6, D10: calc phos, calc sulph, nat phos, kali mur, nat sulph, nat mur, etc. By taking a teaspoon of CALCIUM COMPLEX at a time you receive at least half the recommended daily allowance of: calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and vitamin D. If you add up what it usually costs to get these supplements individually, you can see why this product is so cost-effective. The whole family can now take it.
SAFETY: Calcium from fish bones, dolomite, mineral water, bone meal, etc. can contain toxins like lead and arsenic that occur naturally in these materials. Dairy products often contain hormones and antibiotics. We only use pure ingredients.
ADVERSE REACTIONS TO TAKING CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS THAT MAY AFFECT YOU:
- NAUSEA. A full 5ml measure of CALCIUM COMPLEX may cause nausea or vomiting. This may happen for the following reason: Not everybody can tolerate a large one-off dose of calcium, even at a neutral pH of 7. This is usually due to gastric hypoacidity or the presence of severe acid/alkaline imbalances that have accumulated due to poor eating habits, stress and the gradual onset of degenerative diseases.
It is best to acclimatise the body in order to fully benefit from this supplement. Tablets may not always work for patients lacking in stomach acid as they cannot dissolve properly. People have been known to excrete them intact and their calcium deficiencies remain untreated. Fizzy calcium drinks are popular but there are many cases of people who have taken them for years who still exhibit alarming signs of calcium deficiencies. These guidelines can help you to take CALCIUM COMPLEX more effectively without having any bad reactions:
A) INCREASE THE ACIDITY: The following drink is an excellent substitute for sugary soft drinks in summer:
Add ½ teaspoon CALCIUM COMPLEX to a glass of chilled water with ice. Mix in ¼ teaspoon of citric acid. This changes the pH from 7 to 5 which is acidic. (Citric acid is available from your supermarket and tastes like lemon juice.) You can add a sugar-free sweetener or fructose. These drinks should not cause nausea.
B) BUILD UP THE DOSE GRADUALLY: Start with ¼ teaspoon once or twice a day and gradually take more as you adjust. It tastes good in yoghurt, milkshakes or fruit smoothies made in the blender. Nobody has objected to these drinks. Calcium is best tolerated at bedtime and ensures a good night’s sleep as many will confirm.
WHAT CALCIUM COMPLEX CAN DO FOR YOU:
For a few cents a day you can take calcium in a form that the body can use more effectively. As the formulation includes electrolytes like sodium (bicarbonate and chloride) and potassium it can be used as a sports drink when added to diluted natural fruit juice. This also prevents mineral loss after sweating, diarrhoea, etc.
Calcium and magnesium deficiencies can be linked to over 150 common ailments such as cramps, headaches, constipation, fatigue, skin disorders, hyperactivity, low blood sugar, depression, poor circulation, painful joints, skin infections, mouth and gum infections, osteoporosis, etc. These minerals are involved in over 300 metabolic processes every day and their most important role is in maintaining the alkalinity of the blood. This enables oxygen to be carried to all parts of the body effectively and prevents acid build-up in the cells which leads to diseases like cancer. You will begin to notice many changes taking place in your body and soon you will see that calcium is not just for old ladies! Please ask your health shop or pharmacy to stock this product for you.
Have you any advice for weak teeth and tooth mineralization?
Q) Just read your wonderful article on osteoporosis - thanks!!! Just wondering have you done any research on "teeth remineralisation" - I am sure your Ca Mg powder will do wonders for the teeth. There is also a problem called 'bone resorption' - which is when the bone around the base of the tooth starts "eating" into the root of the tooth!! I have it happening in my front tooth - doom and gloom of the dentist says prognosis is to wait and let the tooth break off then replace the tooth with a screw-in one!! Bit drastic - there must be something in the "natural" remedies line that can help!! I also have inflamed gums and pain on eating/drinking anything hot. Please send me links if you have anything on teeth and tooth health!!
A) The new and non-invasive outlook on dentistry certainly is to strengthen teeth. I have written a number of articles describing how we can make the best of what we have left in terms of teeth at our age! Young children also need to take more vitamin D3, use calcium and magnesium and understand that chewing xylitol gum is healthy and fights tooth decay. We have bolstered up some iffy molars with a combination of coconut oil pulling, xylitol and diatomaceous earth packing and bypassed the need for root canal or extractions.
I try to avoid all salt and now have vertigo Meniere’s. I also have severe hearing loss.
Q) I have been diagnosed with vertigo Meniere’s. I have severe hearing loss and wear hearing aids. I am 56 years of age. I work in the construction industry. I am relatively healthy except for my ear problems. The vertigo at first started lightly and progressed to attacks every week. I don’t suppose you have any advice to offer for Meniere’s! After seeking more refined help, I started a special intake but without salt, caffeine amongst other things. There are “No Salt” and stock powders for vegetables and flesh which do not have salt, caffeine and so on.
I even spend time making my own sauces and toppings. I use seasoning like thyme, Italian herbs and so on. Almost everything has salt in amongst gluten and so on. I spend quality time researching and seeking these foods without salt and so on. I purchase most of my stuff from the Wellness Centre in Cavendish. My question is what supplements I can take to keep the balances correct from my deficiency intake of salt and caffeine.
A) Sorry to hear of yet another salt misconception. We discussed salt in detail on SAFM and you are one of many people who thought salt is bad for you. Perhaps this article will help you to find a way out of the dilemma.
I need a heavy metal detox and mineral supplements
Q) Seems I have heavy metal overload from working as an Analytical Chemist for 20 years in the research department for mercury and other toxic metals. I read your article on salt - agree - once we start messing with minerals in the body - things can go haywire, so I am wondering what is the optimal intake per day of sodium, calcium and magnesium?? I am 53 years old, menopausal and blood A+
A) Most important is the heavy metal detox protocol. But first do a parasite detox. After that look after your liver. I too, suffered from heavy metal poisoning from working with toxic ceramic glazes and developed these protocols to save my own ass. People usually take 1 teaspoon of our Calmag powder at bedtime. Tissue salts are also helpful. As for salt - as long as it is natural relax and enjoy it providing you eat enough potassium-rich food, especially root vegetables.
Questions about the liver and gall flush and constipation
Q) I understand the steps, but I am confused about the AT Bedtime (the gallstones begin to rumble out) this rumble will it hold until you make it to the loo, or are they actually suggesting this happens in bed? Thank you.
A) The stones leave the gallbladder. Then they work through the intestines, along with your normal food. All the debris collects in the colon and will exit via a normal bowel movement – in the toilet.
In terms of the amount of Epsom salts taken and the time you experience bowel movements, it is very individual. Some people are sensitive, and the bowel is stimulated after a few hours on 2 teaspoons. Others may need more Epsom salts and only have the massive movement by lunchtime, after taking the olive oil and lemon or grapefruit juice at bedtime. There is no written formula. All I know is that hundreds of p
